The Metropolis 2018 is Australia’s largest annual gathering of immigration and settlement researchers, policymakers, and representatives from community and settlement organizations.

Every March, up to 1000 people gather in Melbourne for the Metropolis 2018 to discuss emerging issues, identify and set research priorities, and inform policy on immigration, refugees, settlement, and integration in Australia. Plenary panels with notable speakers, as well as workshop and roundtable sessions on a wide range of topics, are all part of the annual conference.

From the beginning, the focus of conference planning has been on exchanging experience and knowledge. A total of four pre-working groups develop the conference content on the chosen themes during the pre-conference process. Through open webinars and transparent work results, all interested parties can follow the work process.
